Overview

Experience the cultural depth, high-altitude villages and monasteries, and sweeping Himalayan scenery in one of the most fulfilling easy-to-moderate treks in Ladakh. Kicking off from Leh, the trek unfolds westward through the Indus Valley, linking historic monasteries like Alchi and Likir before stepping onto the alpine trail.

Over the next several days, you follow a classic trans-Himalayan route that crosses a series of scenic, approachable passes: Phobe La, Chagatse La, Tsermangchan La, Meptak La, and Bongbong La, each opening into wide mountain vistas and quiet Ladakhi settlements. Nights are spent in peaceful camps near villages such as Yangthang, Hemis Shukpachan, and Temisgam, offering a closer look at Ladakh's rural life, its terraced fields, stone homes, and the culture. The trekking trail also leads to spiritual gems like Rizong Monastery, tucked deep within a serene gorge.

The trekking expedition in Ladakh concludes with a visit to Lamayuru, one of the oldest and most dramatic monasteries in the region, set against a moonlike landscape. Throughout the trek, the terrain stays welcoming for beginners and seasoned trekkers, while the rich cultural encounters and high-altitude panoramas make the experience deeply rewarding. It is an ideal introduction to Ladakh's landscapes, spirituality, and warm mountain hospitality.
